Whilst at the interiors show in Birmingham I attended a talk by textile artist and designer Ptolemy Mann. Within this presentation Mann discussed the use of colour (in particular the use of tones and hues) within architecture and how for a relatively low cost a structure can be dramatically enhanced. Mann showed images of several of her commissions and went into detail about a hospital she had been an architectural colour consultant for and how the use of transparent coloured vinyl can break up the uniformed colours of a building.
Mann’s passion for her work was apparent thought out the presentation and it was delivered in a steady paced easy to understand manner with many related images to give vision to her words. The talk and presentation was interesting for me as it covered areas I had previously thought of unrelated to my studies.
